AuthorJohn MorcombeDateSeptember 2023DescriptionThe original Baths at the western end of Manly Cove were built by Henry Gilbert Smith in 1856-7 and known as Brighton Baths.
In March 1883, Manly Council voted to seek tenders to build new baths at the western end of Manly Cove. The accepted design for a new ladies baths was by architect J.H. Rock. Construction began in early 1885. As well as the new pool, which was much larger than the old one, other improvements included the construction of 25 dressing rooms and of a windmill to raise both salt and fresh water.
