The original pool was built as Men's baths in 1879. The women's baths were built in 1885 at the western end of Manly Cove where Ocean World is now located.
The men's baths were demolished in 1892 as new men's baths had been constructed at the eastern end of Manly Cove.
Work on a new pool at Little Manly did not begin until 1926 and it opened in April 1927.
