Main
AuthorJohn MorcombeDateJuly 2024DescriptionJuly 2024 marked the centenary of the opening of Manly Local Court in Belgrave Street Manly.
Prior to 1910, all court matters relating to the Northern Beaches were held in the Police Court on the corner of Phillip St and Albert St near Circular Quay. But in late 1909 the Justice Department decided to rent the former Ivanhoe Park Hotel in Ivanhoe Park and use it as a court house.
In February 1920 the Under Secretary of Justice informed Manly council that a new courthouse would be built in Belgrave St. The new courthouse was officially opened on July 4, 1924.SubjectsManly (N.S.W.)Courthouses - New South Wales - ManlyKeywordsBelgrave StreetCopyrightThis item may be used freely for research and study purposes, for all other uses contact Northern Beaches Council Library Local Studies.
