The building was constructed in 1890 when the school was still known as Mona Vale Provisional School, by Mr Booth, who was responsible for several other buildings in the area. During its time it was described as “…badly lighted, small; windows wrongly placed: ventilation defective… dingy and depressing” in 1919 by then Headmaster, Mr Morrison. This was not the first time complaints had been made about the building, with then Headmaster Robert Harper reporting in 1909 that the door did not fit, the windows were insecure and the guttering was leaky. In 1935 much needed additions were made to school, the new wing being on the left of this photograph. The building was demolished in 1968, during the Christmas holiday. Also present in this image is the school bell, which went missing during the demolition and a replica had to be forged for the centenary celebrations
