Record numberLH000960Datec1930DescriptionIn April 1922 the Country Women’s Association was formed and one of their first acts was to form a committee to establish a seaside holiday home so that country women and their children could enjoy a rare holiday while obtaining medical and dental care at little of no cost. Members visited a number of locations and sought help from the State Government.

After investigating a number of sites on the Northern Beaches, in 1923 the CWA decided on an almost complete six room brick cottage on land at the corner of Oakes Avenue and Avon Road, being Lots 19 & 20 Section 9 of the Oaks Estate (DP 6953). They purchased the property in December 1923 and owned it until 1955 adding to the site with further buildings and a second storey to the original cottage.
