Established just as Australia was on the cusp of the television era, the site was equipped to meet world standards for television and radio production. The studios quickly became the most advanced of their kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and the first purpose-built film studio in Australia. Sets for film production were built in the bushland surrounding Belrose, Oxford falls and Frenchs Forest.
