AuthorJohn MorcombeDateNovember 2019DescriptionOne of the most interesting houses ever built at North Curl Curl was Zanania built by Polish born Stefan Louis Solon Skowronski, who later changed his name to Stefan Kowron. He and his Chinese born wife Jessie arrived in Australia in 1928 and in 1931 bought a large block of land in Headland Road. He then began building his house from stone excavated from the site. He was still working on the house in 1970 when he had a fall and died in 1974. The grand house was eventually demolished in 1996 and the land subdivided.
