AuthorJohn MorcombeDate2018DescriptionAs the popularity of swimming grew in the early yeas of the twentieth century, councils and local progress associations were continuously trying to think of schemes to protect the public from sharks. As a result a number of shark proof swimming pools were erected in the harbour. The pool at Silver Beach was built in 1935. It was demolished in the early 1960s.
New toilets and kiosk were completed at Forty Baskets in 1960 and the new pool completed in 1962. The kiosk was demolished in the 1990s and new toilets have also been constructed.
