AuthorJohn MorcombeDateMay 2020DescriptionIn 1952, in order to try and reduce the congestion on the Harbour Bridge with so many buses crossing it daily, the NSW government came up with a scheme to divert all Wynyard bound buses that originated anywhere between Narrabeen and Balgowlah, to Manly Wharf, where the commuters would have to board a ferry to reach the city. As you can imagine, this scheme was not popular, extended the travel time and costs significantly and was scrapped after just six months.
