Record numberLH010649Date1837 - 1912DescriptionPortrait of the Reverend Robert Willis, the rector of St Matthew’s Church, Manly, between 1876 and 1894. He was the son of Joseph Scaife, a merchant, and Janet Willis, nee Speir, with his father a lessee of Fairlight House, Manly, from 1876 to 1879. He was married to Julia Ann McKenzie in 1867, having a daughter and a son to the marriage. Willis was a significant land holder in Manly, and supporter of new endeavours such as a public school in Manly in 1879. He was one of the first graduates of the University of Sydney and one of the first students of Moore Theological College
