In the early 1900s, WH Gocher seemed to have been politically quite active, being a member of various League's, political parties, and canvassing for seats in different electorates. Two pamphlets written by Gocher are known, Australia, the light of the World, c1897, 11 pages and, Australia must be heard, c1918, 45 pages. On November 8, 1952 the Minister for Housing, Clive Evatt, and other lineal descendants of William Henry Gocher, unveiled a tablet naming a 100 unit block of Housing Commission flats in Stuart Street, Manly, Gocher Court, as a tribute
