Further along North Steyne, the iconic 'Trident' and 'Surfways' flats are visible, and in the foreground, members of the public pose with surfboards and bodyboards on the Norfolk Island pine Manly Beach esplanade, with two surf life saving boat crews posing alongside surfboats. Two World War I memorial sandstone pillars at the eastern end of The Corso, c1918, are also visible. Looking west along The Corso, on the left hand side, the 1930 St Matthew's Church tower is visible in the distance, with the Ocean Food Shop, 110 The Corso, opened in December 1959 by A Kalajzich and sons, in the foreground. On the right hand side of The Corso, the historic New Brighton Hotel sits the corner of The Corso and Sydney Road, and the historic Steyne Hotel, located on the corner of The Corso and North Steyne dominates the centre of the panorama, with flags flying on the rooftop and patrons posing on the hotel's balconies
