ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT
The Complex consists of three pools and
their associated amenities. The main pool is
uniquely flexible in its use accommodating
all phases of swimming, diving, water
safety, water polo, synchronised swimming
and scuba diving training. A full Olympic
carnival, or two 25 metre events can be
held simultaneously in a heated space with
more than 1,000 spectators in permanent
seats.
The Building has captured the spirit of
aquatic sport in Australia by introducing a
daytime atmosphere within the enclosed
space. This concept has been disciplined
only by the absolute necessity for all
building materials to be impervious to the
severe atmosphere associated with the pool.
