Pictured to the left, a man is seated on a garden chair on the foreshore. The guesthouse was run by the son and daughter of photographer David Scott, and offered fine dining and catering services for patrons and included a boatshed and wharf and jetty, where boats could be hired. The establishment had previously been owned by Daniel Farrell, and leased by his sister Sarah Collins and her husband James, all sons and daughters of two well known local family's. The hotel was the first Newport Hotel, established in 1880
