The Bilgola Bends, carrying Barrenjoey Road, are visible winding through the landscape and Bilgola House, built to be a weekender by W B Dalley, the revered Manly politician and lawyer of the early 1880s, is visible in the centre of the image. The premises was a quiet reclusive place with a creek, palms and ferns and lawns that ran down to the beach. Though altered numerous times, the house remained on the site until demolished in 1987
