From the left, Smith Street, extends north, with Smith Lane located to the east, and Pittwater Road running north to south, with the Pittwater Road and Carlton Street intersection visible in the second quadrant of the image. Steinton Street is visible to the right, extending from the foreground and intersecting with Whistler Street and North Steyne at Manly Beach and Norfolk Island pine esplanade. The Pittwater Road and Denison Street intersection can be seen to the right hand side of the image, with St Mary's Catholic Church and associated buildings, now known as Manly Freshwater Parish, on Raglan Street further east. This is the site of the first Roman Catholic Church in Manly, which was formerly a wooden structure erected around 1868, now the site of the present St Mary's Primary School. St Patrick's College is visible on Eastern Hill, to the south east, and various businesses, houses and flats are visible on the flat of Manly, spanning from north to south
