The view spans from St Patrick's College, Eastern Hill, to Dobroyd Head and South Head, to the south. Visible from the left is Manly Oval, in Ivanhoe Park, with the Pacific Ocean extending out to the horizon. The Hotel Pacific, North Steyne, can be seen in the second quadrant of the image, and St Patrick's College, on Eastern Hill, is visible in the background, centre. Gilbert Park can be seen left of centre, with Gilbert Street visible extending from the foreground of the second quadrant, with the Auckland Guesthouse and Pier Court on corner of Rowe Street. Campbell's Emporium, formerly White Bros Emporium, can be seen in the centre, with the 1906 Earl's Court visible on the corner of James and Fairlight Streets, Fairlight, to the right, and Roslyn Hall, on Manly Cove West. Various wharfs and jetties are also visible on the eastern foreshore of Manly Cove, with Osborne Road, Wood Street and Stuart Street extending upward. A steam ferry can be seen at the entrance of North Harbour, between Smedleys Point and Dobroyd Head
