Record number50064Date1807DescriptionBy the order of Governor Bligh, this 1807 map of Sydney shows property boundaries, landmarks and streets. This is a 1978 reprint of the original map.
In addition to illustrating the location of hospitals, gardens and markets, there are also specific notations that provide historical commentary on the condition of the facilities. Fort Phillip is marked with the comment "irregularly began, but now rebuilding". The Dockyard is referred to as "Dockyard, much improved".
This 1807 map records the spelling of Woolloomooloo Bay also as Wallamooloo Bay.
