In 1923, plans for the alterations were put forward, and were completed in 1925, at a cost of 33,371 pounds. The remodeling included self contained flats in the building, advertised for sale around November 1925. The bank continued at the site until 1931, when it amalgamated with the Bank of New South Wales, at a new premises on The Corso. In July 1932 an application by Abbey and Catterall to convert the premises into shops was approved. The outside facade has changed little from 1928 until the present
