Its proprietor, Clarrie Burt, had been to America, and decided to open the iconic Burts Milk Bar in 1936. The Daily Telegraph reported on a hot summers day in 1940 “ Milk Bar Girls Faint” Four girl employees of Burt Bros milk bar fainted yesterday while serving customers. Mr Burt added “ I have 28 girls working today and they have served 28,000 customers”
After catering to countless tourists and locals alike it was demolished in 1989.
