Mr Broun was born at Coonamble. He was a printer. He enlisted on 30 August 1915, aged 23. He was wounded on 26 July 1916 in France. He was again wounded in October 1918 in the shoulder and arm, and died of his injuries. His wife wrote to military authorities on 13 October 1918 pleading for him to be returned home as his mother was ill and he had served for three years; however he had died a few days before. His mother lived at 31 Belgrave Street, Manly.
