George Richard Brown was born in Annandale on 11th October 1896. George was a farmer by trade. On 4th June 1915 at 19 years old he enlisted with the Australian Army. George then embarked for overseas on 19th June 1915. While serving in 1915 he was admitted to hospital for myalgia, dysentery and rheumatism and then on 11th November 1915, pneumonia.

George disembarked for Australia on the 30th April 1916 and was honorably discharged on the 6thSeptember 1916 due to chronic pneumonia. On 13th December 1917 at 21 years and now married to Uldeni Muriel Brown.

George re-enlisted and embarked again for overseas, this time travelling on the Nestor which left Melbourne on 28th February 1918. George disembarked in Australia from overseas service on 20th July 1919 and was honourably discharged on 12th September 1919.
