Frederick James Chapman was 39 years old at enlistment on 2nd November 1915. Frederick was born in Rockhampton, Queensland and was a labourer. Frederick’s wife Ethel May Chapman lived at “Elsinore”, Waine Street, North Manly.

Frederick joined Battalion detail in Tel-el-Kabir on 13th April 1916. He was admitted to hospital for synovitis on his knee on 27th April 1916. He then embarked on the Aragon from Alexandria on 13th June 1916. Frederick disembarked at Plymouth, England on 23rd June 1916.

He left England for Australia on the Marathon and arrived in Melbourne on 24th September 1916. Frederick was discharged due to medical unfitness on 11th December 1916.
