Arthur Henry Darley was born in Annandale and was 28 years and 8 months at enlistment on 11th September 1914. Arthur was a driver (of horses) by trade and listed his next of kin as Mrs. Amelia Jane Murray of Ocean Street, Rushcutters Bay.

He embarked for Gallipoli on 12th April 1915. Arthur was admitted to hospital on 24th April 1915 with influenza, on 30th July 1915 with colitis, then on 24th October 1915 he was admitted to hospital ship Soudan with pyrexia. On 2ndJuly 1916 he embarked from Alexandria per the Kingstonian for Marseilles and service in France. On 12th October 1918 Arthur embarked on the Prince George for Australia. Arthur was discharged on the 25th February 1919.
