Leslie Evers was born at sea in 1892, the son of Hezekiah and Edith Evers. He was a bank clerk at time of enlisting, and his mother lived at 49 Alexander Street, Manly.
He enlisted on 24 August 1914 and embarked on 19 October 1914. On 29 March 1915 he was wounded in the back.
He then served in France, and was transferred from the Field Ambulance to the Signallers as a Sapper. He contracted VD in November 1916, and what was diagnosed as TB in June 1917.
He returned to Australia medically unfit on the Karoolain July 1917], and was discharged on 2 November 1917. In 1919 he had a smallgoods shop at 19 Corso [1].
He died in 1958.
