Reginald Godfrey was born at Hobart in 1892. He was a cycle mechanic.

He enlisted on 31 January 1916, giving as his next of kin his mother, living at 32 Sydney Road, Manly.

He embarked on 1 May 1916. He served as a Driver with the 35th Battalion.

He was fined in December 1916 for loss or neglect of his rifle. He returned to Australia on the Borda on 11 May 1919. In 1935 he was living at Bondi.
