Arthur Goodwin was born at Petersham in 1890. He was a linesman.
He enlisted on 11 June 1917, giving as his next of kin his mother, Mary Goodwin, of 5 Darley Road, Manly.
He embarked on the Canberra on 16 November 1917.
He served with the Signal Service Corps in the Middle East, and from 20 March 1918 onwards at the Signals Depot.
He returned to Australia on the Malta on 3 July 1919.
