Hubert Gould was born on 15 February 1887 at Bendigo, Victoria. He was an engineer.

He was wounded by grenade at Lone Pine, Gallipoli. He was promoted to Lieutenant on 28 November 1915, then to Captain on 1 April 1916.

He was wounded again on 25 July 1916. He was promoted to Major on 9 May 1917.

He was killed in action on 8 May 1918.
