Samuel Jamieson was born at Manly and was a carpenter working for his father, Samuel Jamieson of Queenscliff.

He enlisted on 9 November 1915 aged 26, and embarked on 7 February 1916, serving with the 14th/4th Infantry. He later served with the 1st Pioneers.

He was severely wounded in the left leg in France on 20 September 1917. He was invalided to Australia on 5 April 1918 on the Borda, and discharged from service.

He later took over his father’s business. He died on 19 August 1955, and was buried in Manly Cemetery plot Y.049.
