Herbert Kelly was born in 1878 at Miller’s Point. He was in the theatrical business. He enlisted on 17 September 1915 giving as next of kin his mother Jessie at Fairy Bower Road.

He served as a Private with the 20th battalion then the 56th Battalion.

He was wounded in action in France on 1 November 1916. His neck wound was treated in England, then he was returned to Australia on 22 July 1917.
