Clifford Love was born in 1894 at Walcha, NSW, and was a farmer. His mother lived in Denison Street, Manly. He enlisted in the 2nd Battalion on 17 August 1914 and embarked on 18 October 1914.

He was wounded at Gallipoli on two occasions. Following hospital treatment in Cairo, he was sent back to Australia on escort duty to recuperate on 29 January 1916. He returned to duty later that year, and arrived in France on 19 November 1916.

He was killed in action on 24 December 1916, near Bapaume.
