Septimus Moylan was born at Singleton in 1890 and enlisted on 27 October 1914. He served at Gallipoli, where he sustained arm wounds. Later he served in France.

He was promoted to lance-corporal, but reverted to private at his own request. His disciplinary record was poor, and an enquiry found that on Christmas Eve 1916 he drank himself to death. Casualty list in SMH 22 January 1917.

Pte Moylan is commemorated on a headstone in Manly Cemetery plot P.091, together with his brother John Bede Moylan, whose name is not listed on the Corso War Memorial.
