Dr Archibald W G Murray

Archibald Murray was born c1888 and attended Brisbane Grammar School. Having completed his medical studies at the University of Sydney, Dr Archibald W G Murray proceeded to England with the AMC with the rank of Lieutenant. His father Charles Murray of Manly was the elder brother of Sir Archibald Murray, the chief-of-staff of Sir John French.[1]

He served at Gallipoli with the Imperial 29th Division. Following a spell in England for recuperation, he then served with the East Kent Regiment in France. He was then chief medical superintendent for East Anglia.

On return to Australia he married Marjorie Gordon, and they had two children. He worked at the Newcastle Hospital and the Paddington Royal Hospital for Women, as well as at Cairns.[2]

Latterly they lived at Colac, Victoria. He died in a car crash at Colac in 1932.[3]
