Andrew Nicholson

Andrew Nicholson was born in Glasgow, Scotland c1879 and was a bricklayer. He had spent two years serving with the Scottish Rifles. His mother lived in Queensland. He lived at Manly.

He enlisted at Sydney on 29 April 1915, and served with the 4th Battalion at Gallipoli, where he was erroneously reported missing in action. He then served in France. He was killed at Pozieres, around 25 July 1916.

A Miss Humphreys wrote to military authorities asking for details of his next of kin so that she could write to them. She had corresponded with the soldier since he had received a billycan she had sent in 1915. His legatee was a Bella Smith living in Glasgow.
