Manly connection not clear, but he was listed in Mark Mitchell’s letter archived in G W Twigden’s War Service Record regarding Manly fatalities. He was born 14 August 1887 at Whangarei, New Zealand, educated Napier Main School. Joined Bank of NSW in November 1904, worked at New Plymouth and Kyneton, Victoria, and then the bank’s head office.
Enlisted February 1915, arrived Egypt in June, promoted to lance-corporal on 1 October 1915. Invalided to England from Gallipoli. Rejoined unit in France in April 1916, wounded by shell-fire at Battle of Pozieres, died 29 July 1916. See Honour Roll of Bank of NSW, p351.
