TAYLOR, Tpr. William Frederick, 804. 1st Australian Light Horse. Killed in action 7th Aug., 1915. Age 22. Son of the late Isaac and Emily Taylor. Native of Pittwater Road, Manly, New South Wales. B. 10.

William Taylor was born on 17th June 1893 at Manly, to Isaac Taylor and Emily (nee Marshall). He attended Manly Public School, then became a stockman. He enlisted in November 1914 and entered the 1st Light Horse brigade.
He embarked on 6 February 1915. He was killed on 7 August 1915 during heavy fighting at Pope’s Hill, Gallipoli.
He was commemorated on a headstone in Manly Cemetery, B.271. See Sydney Morning Herald 1 September 1915, p7 for photo.
