Wentworth Tebbutt was born at St Peters, Sydney and was a master butcher. He enlisted aged 25 on 12 July 1915, giving as next of kin his mother living at Sydney Road, Manly.

He embarked on 14 October 1915 and served in the Middle East with no 2 Australian General Hospital, and later the 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance. He was promoted to Lance-Corporal on 23 March 1918 and later to Corporal. He returned to Australia on the Port Sydney on 4 March 1919.

He died in 1964.
