Jack Kettle Thruchly

Jack Thruchly was born in Newtown, Sydney on 4 June 1892 to John and Helena (nee Thomas) Thruchly. He was a shipping clerk at time of enlistment. He married Mabel Clarinda Baxter [1], at Manly Methodist Church on 19 June 1915 [2], and they lived at Smith Street, Manly.

He served with the 2nd Light Horse then the 12th Light Horse in Egypt and the Middle East. He returned to Australia on the Warwickshire in April 1919, having contracted malaria.

His wife divorced him in April 1929 on grounds of his adultery, and he then married Olive Maher later that year at Glebe [3]

In the 1930s they were living at Marrickville. Olive died in 1966.Jack Thruchly died on 30 September 1990 at Frenchs Forest aged 98.
