Kenneth Warton was born at Young in 1891 and was a medical student. He enlisted on 1 February 1915, giving as next of kin his father living at Augusta Road, Manly.

He served with the 1st Australian General Hospital in Egypt, but was discharged with rheumatism in April 1916. He re-enlisted on 3 July 1916 and was briefly with the 22nd Howitzers as a Gunner, before being again discharged from duty as medically unfit in November 1916. He resumed his medical studies and became a doctor.
