Arthur Wilkinson was born near Christchurch, New Zealand in 1896 and was a poultry farmer. He enlisted on 6 September 1915, giving as next of kin his father, living at Church Point, Pittwater.

He embarked on 20 December 1915 and served with the 45th Battalion. He was hospitalized on several occasions, including on 24 March 1918 for treatment to burns. He returned to Australia on the Armaghon 5 April 1919. He died in 1981.
