Harold Wood was born at London in November 1883 and was a compositor. He enlisted on 24 April 1918, giving as next of kin his wife living at Hutton Street, Manly.

He embarked on the Field Marshal on 19 June 1918 and served in England with the 34th Battalion. He returned to Australia on the Devanhaon 8 May 1919.
