Record numberMML/302Datec 1911DescriptionLater known as Brock's Folly. La Corniche was owned by Oswald Brock. The mansion built at Mona Vale by George Brock in 1894, which sent him broke, became known as 'Brock's Folly'. This gentleman called it 'The Oaks'. It overlooked what was called then Bongin Bongin ('lots of shells') beach, now known as Mona Vale beach. The building was renamed 'La Corniche' by Rainaud, a French Restaurateur who originally ran a successful tea room, restaurant and boarding house at Church Point-Bayview until a tragedy. He brought the name with him when taking over these premises. The building was demolished to build home units after 1953.CreatorE.
