Record numberMWPHS/767-7DescriptionBuilt by James Stedman c1903. James Steadman was a confectionary magnate and a leading philanthropist. In 1918 James Stedman Henderson Sweets Ltd built a large 12 acre factory known as ‘Sweetacres’ in Rosebury. The building was designed by architect John Burcham Clamp. The factory produced well-loved sweets such as Minties, Jaffas and Fantales.” ‘Sweetacres’ factory became one of the largest in Australia by WWI. The family also owned 118 North Steyne, Brise de Mer, as their holiday house.
